A young Robin taken from a home made hide out in my yard.
This was taken last year, we had quite a few youngsters this year so looks like they're doing well, must be all that food I'm giving them

Judging by the subject I think it's not bad to be invited to dinner at your house

Buck, I can't remember exactly but what may have happened here is the background is the mountain across the valley and it's obviously in the sunlight in this shot.
The bird must have been in the shadow of a cloud otherwise it would have been lit up a lot more by the Sun also, but I like it this way as it brings out some nice detail.
I built the wooden hide facing North so that the Sun would light up the birds from the front, which it does most of the time.
Geoff.
I love the texture of the feathers on this young bird, they have an almost chenille-like look to them. Very nice detail, pose and comp. Lovely light in the eye too.
