A Different View

A very different aspect of the same flower as pictured here.

This was shot with the 70-200mm lens and Canon 500D @ 200mm. This was shot at f/22 for 1/5 s at ISO 200.

The glow comes not from NIK filters, but rather the noise filter in PS added selectively to the stem and a portion of the red petals.

I thought it added some depth and mystery to the Tulip. (Needless to say, I have other versions, including B/W  )

What's your opinion?

Thanks,

:wavey:

Carol

The view works well for me Carol. I also think that I like the noise in this case. Nice experimenting - good result.

I like everything but the noise . . . film grain might be more effective and less distracting, but I'm not sure you need either in this case. You've got a nice subject with good color and composition already.

Carol, great looking colors and I like the comp. I'm kinda on the fence about the stem, though. The noise on the flower looks fine, but I feel the stem just looks like high ISO noise. :wavey:

I like the addition of noise but what I like more is the fact that you are experimenting, trying different things. Nice work.

Carol, I like the view and comp. However, and it's just me I know, the 200mm focal length is flattening the image and the added noise also flattens out the colour. If that is what you were trying to achieve first rate on the post processing.
For my taste, I would like to see some more vibrant colour and some more depth. You know, I LOVE colour.

I like this one a lot Carol. Very strong comp for my tastes and the muted colors are very appealing to me. I like the noise you introduced. No suggestions except print large, frame and hang.

Carol:
Nice experiment. The added noise works well. Like how you keep adding new things to your comp.

Bold move Carol. Before I read your narative I thought " WOW is this one noisy!" Now, knowing it's intentional I'm OK with it except for the stem. Overall pretty interesting though.

Beautifully composed and processed, Carol ! Love the graininess in the darker areas - it enhances the image perfectly, contrasting with the soft glow around the stem top. You are onto something here !!

intersting view. I like the comp, but don't care about the added noise.
