Autumn in the Whites

This shot was taken a few minutes, and a few hundred yards downstream of my last waterfall post. Although I don't like this shot nearly as much as the other, I do like the vivid fall colors. Once again, I was hiking and didn't have a tripod, so my backpack became my camera support. Hope you like it!
Comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Beautiful comp and colors, and the flow is great. Nicely done considering you didnt have a tripod! My only nit would be to reduce the blacks in the rocks, and perhaps the overall contrast. I like how the leaves are scattered on the rocks left, and perhaps lightening that area will bring more attention to them.

Thanks Chris! I considered lightening the rocks and shadows, but in reality they were a dark black so, although tempted, I restrained myself from changing the scene too far from the original. I will consider less contrast, but once again this is essentially how the scene looked in front of me.

Everyone else please let me know if you feel as Chris did, and if there is a resounding vote for less contrast I will make the adjustments. Thanks!

Hey Cam, I really like the colors and comp here. I agree with Chris, the rocks are pretty dark - not just contrasty, but dark to the point where detail is lost. Particularly the bottom right corner, there is kind of a black hole effect going on there.

I kind of like the black hole--its a good spot for a signature
What i dont like is that odd white stripe running up the rock--i keep straining to see if it is some string of greek letters or something
Other than that, this is a real pretty and well presented shot!

A beautifully framed autumn cascade, Cam. My only suggestion would be to reduce the contrast just a tad and try to bring out a little detail in the blacks as Chris and Taylor already suggested. How are the fall colors looking in the Whites this year?

A very nice shot Cam. I think you timed the water just right, I really like the look of it. I do not mind the dark rocks. It kind of shows them as they are.

I like the scene. Just feels a bit underexposed.
