North Lake Splendor

Since seeing Galen's shot from here, I always wanted to shoot here for myself. Been there a couple of times with nothing to show for it. This morning was one of the most spectacular things I have ever witnessed in nature. The light was going off all around us, with some cherry colored clouds behind. It was a short, but awesome weekend kicking around with Eric Good, And Steve Sieren. Also had the California group get together that is always fun on sunday. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it, and thank you for your thoughts. Please see the larger version too.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris.

This last Sunday morning was insane. I can't wait to process my Buttermilk images from this same dawn. Now I know what you meant when we bumped into each other at Sabrina. I must remember to thank Preston for moving the meet and greet up a week what a primo weekend and image from North Lake. Be proud.

The light really makes this sing. Processing the a scene with this much dynamic range is tough, but you did a great job here. Beautiful color as well. Print it BIG!

A real beaut, Chris! Love the comp and colors. Id persoanlly prefer it a bit darker overall, i think the glow would be more impressive with a darker fg, but brighter images are usually more popular...

Hey Chris,

Beautiful scene with fantastic light happening all around. Although it hardly ever translates as well to us the viewer, clearly this was a morning you will never forget.

Of course I wasn't there, but at least on my monitor, the light on the far peak is a little heavy towards the orange saturation, but not a deal breaker for me.

Sure wish I was there. Oh well, there's always next year.

The brightness of the orange light on the peak is a little strong for my taste, but it's a minor issue. So many details to see in this one, with those great grasses in the FG and trees in the MG. Beautiful comp. Wonderful image.

This is pretty sweet Chris! I could go for a little more contrast in the sky, but that's totally minor, overall a really compelling image. Looks like you guys had quite a weekend up there this year!
