Honeybee Drinking Nectar

FInding shots of the elusive honeybee is always exhilarating for me. The abundance of yellow in this scene challenged me to find a good composition. I'm curious to know what other viewers think about the contrast (or lack thereof), if it works or not.

Thanks for all comments and criticisms.

It's not quite working for me, Stephanie. If you have the room I would be tempted to position the bee higher in the frame and maybe go in for a slightly tighter crop. The BG looks good and I think with a little more work you'll have a good looking image.

I agree with Andy that he is a little low in the frame. If this is not already a big crop I would consider taking some space off the top and right, trying to keep him perched on about the intersection of thirds. The harmony of the soft background with the bee and flowers is quite nice.

I like this as is Stephanie. I like the way the bee and cluster of flowers stands out against the large sea of yellow that you created with the shallow DOF. Raising the bee and flowers slightly in the frame may enhance the composition abit, but definatly a keeper the way it is. Well done.
