Well not gorund but sea
From a trip I made to the coast I was lucky to capture a storm over the sea horizon, this photo is a merge of two 30 second exposures showing a cloud to cloud and a cloud to sea bolt.
The differences in luminosity inside the cloud are probably due to internal lightning.
This storm came towards me quite fast so I chickened and run away.
Cheers,
Luis

31 commentsThe scene looks very natural. I could see a slight desaturation of the blues in the sky, but I am on an uncalibrated monitor. I also think a slight crop down on the top would work. It's a spectacular capture and very mysterious, especially the murky depths of the sea.

Agree on the de-sat of the blues.

What a phenomenal event you were able to witness and capture. the glow inside the cloud really tops this off for me (although you could turn down the sat a little bit there.) If this storm was coming right at you, I can certainly understand running for cover!
I'm curious about the light on the surf. Is it simply the accumulation of the white, crashing waves over the long exposure? Or is there some light source illuminating the water? I really like the effect as it adds to the overall drama and impact of the scene.
What a fantastic moment and capture.

Lon: The beach was pitch dark so the light on the water is produced by lightning over the sea foam. There were many small lightning flashes that the exposure couldn't capture as bolts.

I'd agree to tame down those blues.
It has a dreamy feel to it, nice job!

Giovanni: Yes! I can accept a nice storm if the waves are going to be tame
The blues are fabulous
