Grand Teton Revealed

Well, partly revealed anyhow...I might have liked a little more peak showing, but i had to take advantage of the fg lighting on the tree, so i can live with the trade-off. This is from Grand Teton NP Sunday Morning, somewhere near the triangle X ranch. Im not quite sure, cause i was racing southward quickly to try to get the peaks emerging while there was still decent light. I originally was going to shoot the Oxbow Bend area for sunrise, but when i got up there it was clear to me that the fog wasnt dissapating anytime soon, so i quickly sped south (stopped briefly to warn the crowd at Oxbow that they were in for a dissapointment--they ignored me of course) and managed to grab a bunch of shots as the range emerged from the fog.

C&C Welcome!
Oh--forgot to mention, i decided not to clone out the small ranch fence in the distance--cause at full scale it looked pretty cool to me.

Neat shot, Stan. I'm not sure about the bare tree, though. I'd be interested in seeing a version with it cropped out. Love that light and the window through the clouds.

Very beautiful concept Stan, I like how the photo invites discovery. Really original and very well executed.

Man, the images here are just getting phenomenal this week, including this one. Incredible leaf color, but that's almost an anti-climax when you view this as an entire entity. My jaw dropped when this came up. My only nit is the fence - I would definitely clone it.

I like the fence or gate or whatever it is; It gives it an "old west" attitude. The dark cloud in the urc seems a little noisy from my house but it's minor if it's even there at all. The Grand Tetons are definitely on my short list.

Yep, clone the "manthing" on the left side, and then print in the order of 5' tall to really give someone the feeling of standing there in the face of "Majesty." KILLER!

Stan, this is amazing. I love that the peak is partly obscured...it makes it so much more enigmatic. The light and colors are fantastic :)

Stan, Stan, Stan,

I think you deliberately left in the fence gate as a test.... c'mon, admit it! We try and be consistent, but it isn't always easy. But calling it out and then having a railroad scene posted right behind you, I think it forces the hand and we will go ahead and move this to Man & Nature. You know the line... if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators.

Now, I wish I could have just enjoyed the image for it's beauty! Really nothing to critique here, what a fabulous moment in time you were able to witness and capture. Looks like quite the productive and successful trip up to Teton NP.

Great light, great compromise, fence is kinda cool but not really the main subject in the image to me, but that's me not much for sitting on the fence, but I do have images of neat old fences. Not going to venture further into fence puns......I'll leave that to the more daring. Love the peaks just poking out of the clouds Stan....

Wow! Beautiful work Staan. I like the golden tree and layers of clouds and mountain. The little fence adds a sense of scale.
