Lava Revealed

Lava Creek is one of my favorite spots to photograph at sunrise in Grand Teton NP, even when there's not a peak in sight. It just feels like a nice, open, wild spot. Well, it was foggy at sunrise Sunday morning, but the fog began to clear off shortly after. This is the creek emerging from the fog.

Cool image. I would have never guessed the location. I like the mood and subdued colors. You might consider lightening the LLC a pinch, but I suppose this depends on the exact mood your after.

Very cool Stan - this one was probably tough to envision a comp for - and the fog makes it I think.

Really like how the stream recedes straight back into the fog. Wonderful mood. Would never guess that this is in the Tetons; seems like most folks always include the mountains (from my narrow perspective of course). Great to see another aspect to this area.

I really like this. Very nice comp and this has great mood. I love pine trees in the fog at sunrise. The golden color in the tall grass looks very nice too with the blue. Just all works very well. Nice work, Stan. Nice way to start a day looking at this!

Really nice Stan, love the atmosphere on this one. Great detail in the fg, and a nice comp with the river leading you right through the scene. Looks like a beautiful morning.

Pretty place, Stan. Foreground has some nice textures, though it seem a bit dark. Might be my monitor though as there's a lot of light in this room at the moment.

Oh, this is nice! This doesn't need a peak, this has all the interest you could want with the creek and great golden color and distant trees. The fog is a great added element. There's something about this that just really appeals to me.

Very nice comp and I'm really enjoying the quiet mood of this image, no need for a big majestic peak in the background here.

Stan,

Great mood and atmosphere here. I like the lifting fog and how the light is reflected in the water tying the foreground and background together. Yeah, a little dark up front, but that in part is what helps create the mood too. As an alternative, I may shave a bit off the left and top to tighten it up a little, but it's not necessary really.

Thanks, yeah i intentionally left this on the dark side (should be viewed in a dark room) since, well--it was dark! Any lighter and i just dont think it would be true to the scene as i viewed it.

Never heard of it! Is this in an obscure area of the park(if there is one)? This has very nice ambience. Again, another somewhat understated image with a big, profound impact!
