Pointed Rocks

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on here much lately due to picking up some other online responsibilities over the last few weeks.

Headed out to Whale beach again yesterday morning, this time to the north end. It was blowing a gale but fortunately we had some protection due to the cliffs and the wind was largely at our backs.

Thanks for your time and comments.

Powerful image, Andrew. The waves in the foreground are perfect. Great colours in the sky.

It's well down, Andrew. I like the contrasting color between the sky and the water and the wonderful textures in the foreground.

Great action in the waves! The color contrast works well, also. I think it could use a touch more balance in light between the sky and foreground, but that is a matter of taste and mood to be conveyed.

The comp works great for me and the foreground flow is very nice. There is some great color throughout but I find the foreground a bit too light for the exposure in the sky.

Andrew,

Nicely captured seascape. I really like the action in the foreground surf and I like even more the hint of green and turquoise in the water. The color is just lovely. Now while I like this as captured and presented, I'm also seeing an alternative without the sky; just concentrating on the surf. Just a thought.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone, much appreciated. In terms of luminance throughout I'm quite happy with this but will have a play around with the balance to see how it looks.

Thanks again.

Wonderful photo - very dramatic. IMO, the photo and/or location has a lot of options. Along with Lon's crop suggestion, I see another possiblity that emphasizes the sky by cropping just below the 'shark fin' shaped rock using the next closest rock as a foreground element.

Anyway, that's just a thought. The original post is certainly a keeper. The colors are great and the rough surf is depicted well. :toast:
