Night Heron - back lit

Black Crowned Night Heron coming right at me (95% Full frame, almost missed the wings).
I found it a challenging since I shot right into the sun.

I was photographing some Juveniles when one of the Adults swooped in on me! A little to close for comfort, basically freaked me out. All I heard was a loud wing flap and there it was!

Nikon 200-400MM F4 lens (focal length 280mm)
ISO 400
Shutter 1/2000 sec
Aperture F5.6

It looks a little OOF on the large version to me but still a very nice in flight shot and I like the backlighting.

Amazing to get this at all, considering the scenario you describe Eric. It does look soft though.

Your right, I wonder why? The full size version is spot on my pc. When I resized the photos I used the bilinear instead of the bicubic. Must have done something wrong.

Eric - yes, I do think the repost looks sharper.

Like the foot forward approach this bird is taking. Nice capture and repost.

Great shot Eric. The repost looks much better. Something def went wrong with the processing on the first posts small and large. I would suggest something, but I would need to know exactly the order you did the various parts of your processing.

Fast reactions to get this at all, Eric. The exposure is excellent. The Heron seems just a bit soft to my eye, but the pose is terrific. The repost does look sharper. :toast:
