Acadia Dawn

We had very little in the way of clouds on my recent trip to Acadia National Park, in fact the majority of the time there wasn't a cloud in the sky. We did however catch a break one morning, although the sunrise didn't quite ignite like we thought it might. Nonetheless, it was still pretty darn nice to be catching the earliest color in the eastern sky, probably entire US on this particular morning.

I had originally thought I'd have to blend a couple of exposures in post but actually pulled it off in one frame.

I like the red blue combination and how the slow shutter speed rendered the water

That's a really gorgeous palette of colours Kurt. The swirly motion hinted at in the long exposure seems to complement the shapes of rocks nicely.

A truly grand scenic, Kurt! Love the reds and blues. You've
also managed to bring out some of the detail in the very dark
rocks, plus I think you have the perfect shutter speed for the
water flow.

A wonderful seascape indeed, loaded with great mood and drama. The sky is just about perfect, and I love the subtle details on the dark rocks. Great!

Intense. Looks like you made good use of the clouds you did get. I really like how the sky light is reflected in the water too.

I like this a lot! Aside from the cyan being a little heavy in the foreground surf, this looks pretty natural to me. I agree, you pulled it off in one frame. I was talking to a friend about the fact that the "uber" shadow detail trend might be giving way back to a more natural look. I think this is closer to what reality would be in this light.

I like the darker silhouetted feel this one has to it. Great colors and curving fg water motion.

Very nice Kurt. Cyan is strong but definitely works in my opinion. Nice comp and and overall presentation.

Acadia is one place I would love to go maybe someday. The blues and reds are spectacular and I like the placement of the rocks on the shoreline that leads you right up the side of the image. Beautiful job Kurt.

Nice composition and color pallette. The reds reflected in the distant waters and cool foreground blues are a nice mix. The flow of the clouds complements the scene well. My only nit, and this is very minor, is the tilted/stretched out look of the tree at the ULC due to the wide angle. I could be wrong, the tree may actually be leaning left, but it has that telltale wide angle distorted look. I've used the lens distort filter in PS with some success to reduce this type of distortion, just a thought.

I really like this image Kurt. It has a great flow to it and the conditions are awesome. For my tastes, I could see a slight less saturation of the cyans as previously mentioned. The sky mimics the water patterns. A pleasure to view!

I do not know how I missed this before, but this image rocks, Kurt. :toast: I love the use of warm and cool colors in this scene and there is just eough detail in the rocks. This is beautifully done. This does not have anything to do with that Nikon/Canon thing does it?

Excellent color and a wonderful composition. It may be my monitor, but I want to see the foreground a bit lighter. This is a great shot. Thanks for sharing.
