More from the Pt. Defiance Summer Gardens in Tacoma, WA. The Fuchsia were most excellent this year. Hard to isolate good groups, but I think I did okay with this one?

(Fall color is finally here, but lots of rain and wind coming this weekend... :frown: )

D700, 70-200 @ 116; f8,1/20, ISO 400, -0.67EV

Thanks for viewing.

Very pretty. Excellent comp isolating the flowers from the background. You might want to burn in or clone out the bright stem directly below the flowers to make less noticeable.

Hi Catherine, I think you've done an excellent job isolating a group of Fuchsias. The image has a very Oriental feel to it and might make a handsome black and white print. I think Scott's suggestion is a good one regarding that offending branch or stem beneath the flowers.

Cheers,

Carol

ELEGANT, comes to mind as I look at this composition and wonderful capture. You have done an outstanding job Catherine, the BG foliage helps these blooms pop!

Great job on the comp and the subject/ground separation Catherine. My only suggestion would be to clone out the stem below the flowers. Beautiful image.

Catherine, I love the feeling that the family of Fuchsia is coming out of the wood through a hole in the green. A beutiful natural atmosphere, for me. I hope you will resist when asked to cut some green.
Take care.

Another flower that I don't have a decent photo of (the other one being Peony). Ballerina is the most perfect way to describe the blooms  . Works well as presented and terrific work with DOF

Very pretty Catherine. I like the comp (though I think you could crop a tad from the bottom). Very nice DOF.

Thanks to one and all for your comments. That darn stem! Okay, well I included it on purpose! I liked the way it echoed the Fuchsias' stem and gave them a "stage" to dance on. No, huh? If you insist, I'll reconsider... Nathan, I have a version with a crop from the bottom and came back to the original size to post. Cropping solves the "problem" with the lower stem, but then the "dancers" look confined.

Okay, Carol, I'll try a black/white, too.

I'll put the other one up, and you can vote!

Catherine:
The repost is stronger without the lower branch. Lovely little bells.

Catherine, this is stunning! The blooms do indeed look like little ballerinas in their pastel pink tutus. My preference is the original as posted, but that's just me. Gorgeous work.
