Milkweed Dancers

Back to our regularly scheduled programming (colour images)
This is a variation of the previous image posted. Shot with Canon 90mm T/S lens at f16 1/13sec. Couldn't use stacking as the "dancers" were moving in the convection currents at the time. So the most distant seedpods are OOF. But, at f16 this was the optimal sharpness. Going to f22 introduced too much diffraction so all would appear soft.

Great, Bob (even if in color ;^)

A little soft but then you mentioned that.

Would consider cloning the very bottom seed and part of branch.

Sure wish I'd find one of these.

It's lovely, Bob. The lighting is nice and I think the detail is pretty good. Yes, perhaps a bit soft but not distracting imo.

The separation of the individual seeds makes this image stand out. Like fireworks, as previously commented. very nice.

Hi Bob :wavey: A superb composition of the milkweed plant  The tufts of floss attain a remarkable clarity and detail against the black B.G. The pods are beautifully captured with perfect detail and color!! :toast:

Don't think this could be improved in any way Bob. Superb lighting and strong comp. Exceptionally fine image. I think your f/16 decision was perfect.

A terrific presentation against that black BG. I used to shoot LF and miss the T/S capabilities I had with that setup. I use Helicon extensively but as you pointed out it doesn't work with subject movement. May have to look into Nikon's (expensive) T/S lenses.....

Sure like it as posted. I think wind/breeze can be a nice element to show in an image. Such a great plant to photograph, and so well done, here, Bob!

Excellent Bob. A very ethereal looking shot. Wonderful effect with the seeds in front of the dark BG.

Bob: One of my favorite subjects superbly captured and presented. I like your DOF management. I'm curious about your diffraction comment though as I routinely use f22 on both my 100 and 200mm macros and see no ill effects. Mike Moats often keeps his lens set at f32 and does pretty darn well. Whatever, this is a terrific shot. >=))>
