Standing Out

I'm a sucker for layers:)

This was taken near Stevens Pass, Washington this past weekend. I would have liked to have offset the lone tree but this area was very remote and I had to shoot through a ton of brush. This was the best comp I felt I could get with the conditions. How do you feel about it being centered?

Thanks for your C&C's!!!!

I love layers too and I think you caught a great display here. Colours are really nice, from the red bushes in the fg up to the dark green pines. I can't avoid to think though that this would work even better without the dying tree. I understand that you included it in the composition to break the flow and add interest, and it certainly works in that way, but I'd really love to see one with only the smooth transition in colours. Hope this makes sense.

I think this is very nice, Justin. The layers really work well and the colors are wonderful, along with a nice comp. I like this as you have it here, but also like Paolo's idea without the center tree in the scene. That may not even have been possible though. Nice work, I like this.

I like the darker background that is in shadow in this one as it really helps bring attention to that vivid grove of trees. The colors look great as well.

The centering is no problem for me, Justin. I like the colors and the
way that you were able to bring out detail in the dark background.
You also have good lines and textures here. Your capture of layers
works for me.

The layering really comes through here. My thought would be to saturated the foreground reds just a bit more and maybe dodge the background trees to lighten them a bit. Could also see a bit of a crop off the top to better balance the amount of each layer. Nice scene. Good eye to spot this combo of elements.

Beautiful layers of color, and detail in this comp! I love the foreground. Background is nice too, and provides good color contrast. I'm not sure why this is getting more responses, it's quite nice IMO!

I really like this Justin. The solitary tree against the layers is really nice composition-wise. I might crop a smidgeon off the top but that is really a minor suggestion. Nicely done. Beautiful autumn color.

The re-post is magnificent. I like what the central tree adds, but can see that without it would be a great shot too.
