While exploring the Elephant Plains game reserve in South Africa one foggy morning, I asked our driver to stop so I could snap a quick shot if these "dueling" shapes. Several windmills dot the national parks and reserves in that part of the country, but in this case I liked the proximity of the contrasting silhouettes. A grey heron sits atop the tree, btw.

Very cool love this shot. Great silhouette and a simple well executed idea. Could you ask the heron to stand at the end of the dead tree next time - shocking oversite.

Wow, very well seen and executed. The fog makes this really 2 dimensional (not what we want usually, but works perfectly here). Simple and powerful. :toast:

Very cool photo Max. Either subject by itself would make a nice silhouette image in the fog. But by captured both in the same image creates a very interesting photograph for the exact reasons you have mentioned, contrasting shapes.
Very nice.

The thumbnail looked nice with the simple comp but the heron atop the tree is an excellent plus to the scene. :toast:
