WC456-Water Deposits

This photo was taken in August near the hamlet of Chasm Falls, NY. Hadn’t previously processed it, but it seemed to fit the theme this week – some mineral stains there from water seepage. Cropped some from the top to a 4 x 5 format, cloned out a couple of small branch “ends” and blended a couple of small areas with curve-adjusted portions.

Canon T1i, 56mm, f/18, 0.6s, ISO-100, tripod

C&C always welcome, thanks for looking.

Real nice, Ron--a very down-to-earth shot and good choice for the theme. Some cool macro possibilities here too. :wavey:

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Stan - I'll be revisiting this area in the future; in the right conditions I might just try some macro shots.

I am really enjoying the light and diagonals here R.C. Colors and textures are also spell binding.

I really like the look of this RC. Great saturated colors and shutter speed choice. Did you intend this as a macro and hence the use of f18? I would be tempted to crop a bit from the right side to eliminate the dryer looking patch of stone in the URC. Lots of good stuff to look at!

Once again appreciate the feedback....thanks for the kind words.

Pamela - I used f18 because this was shot from the edge of a bluff, across a chasm and down to the rock wall you see here...and I couldn't quite tell if the focal plane was lined up with the canted rock face and I wanted it all in focus. The distance was probably 10-12 ft and there was a tree preventing me from getting exactly where I wanted to be, there were overhanging branches from a dead spruce...and not much room to move around. No macro shot possible until the water level goes way down, otherwise you'll get swept away...very fast current in deep water...if you could get close. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Okay - here's a photo from below to help visualize the location. This was shot at 28mm from as close as I could get. The WC456 shot was from about 15ft higher and to the left.
