Green heron

This green heron was nice enough to land on the stump right in front of me while I was watching blue-winged teal sun themselves. Thus, no BWT flight shots, so this will have to do for now.

Very well done Ron. I like the dynamic landing posture, especially with the soon to be perch in sight. Nice job getting detail in the shaded areas of the left wing and on the rump. Sharp, colors look just right and your composition is effective. Super!

Thought this was Ronnie's based on thumbnail - but shouldn't have eliminated the possibility of you since you're oh-so-good at flight shots. Perfectly anchored by the perch and solid exposure. Can't get much better

Great image. I like the feathers on the head-must have been caused by the deceleration of coming in for that landing. Nice detail in the feet and claws. Very sharp.

Ron, what a great pose!
You sure have found some cooperative birds lately - and have gotten just excellent shots (as usual).

Happy 200th Ron - great capture. There's certainly a look of concentration on the bird's face.

cheers

Wonderful action shot. It's tough when you have to sacrifice a BWT shot for a green heron landing. Well done!! :toast:

Ron,
This will do for me. Great position with the feet out stretched and head feathers popping up with excitement. Nice and sharp with a good catchlight in the eye. Really nice work Ron.

Cool shot, Ron! I like the eye of the bird looking right at the landing point. Excellent alertness on your part to change tacks while concentrating on the ducks. I haven't gotten any GH images in more than a year, so I look forward to more.

Love the dynamic landing flight pose Ron, tack sharp & you've stopped the action perfectly. I've shot these here at the Lampasas River. Got some action shots while it fished and landed on a rock, just not quite close enough.
One of those times when your 500 would've made the difference..
Outstanding :toast: :toast:
