I shot this over the weekend. I would appreciate any feedback on what would improve it. Thanks in advance.

Good shot, Scott. The only thing I would do is lighten the deer or add color to the deer. Thanks for posting.

Hi Scott, there are several strong elements in this shot. The subject is a nice specimen in a good pose and well placed in the frame. The focus also is spot-on and the DOF well chosen. I also like the framing by the (dark) tree branches at the top edge and the (dark) grasses at the bottom edge. The only thing I find unfortunate is that the animal is in the shade, but the BG in full sunshine. The brightness of that BG tends to pull my eye away from the subject. The only this you could do in PP-ing is to try to tone down the BG a bit and brighten the animal. However, be careful not to overdo it as that will look unnatural.

What Vincent said, a tricky lighting situation. All the other elements are great however. :toast:

Nice shot of this buck. It is true that the buck is in shadow against a brighter BG but the BG light is pretty soft so it doesn't bother me that much. I kind of like the contrast between the cool, blue deer and the warm toned BG. I also like the bit of rim light on the antlers which looks very nice. I live in Dallas and I am wondering where did you shoot this deer?
