I love these twisted old pines. I shot this at St. Joesph Bay, near Cape San Blas, FL. The fog was dissipating quickly as the sun was almost clearing the treeline. LARGER version available.

D2X w/70-300 @ 70mm
1/20 @ f/7.1 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
don't remember about filtration
Tripod
Capture One 4, CS4, TK's Luminosity Masks, Marc's web sharpening

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Great trees and silhouetting, Bill and a I like how there's enough detail in the shadows to keep them interesting.

Very nicely composed, with just enough soft detail in the shadows to complement the strong silhouettes against the sky.

Just and excellent comp utilizing those two great trees. And the amount of detail in the shadows make this feel absolutely like the time of day it was shot in. The feeling of morning about to break is almost palpable. Outstanding shot, Bill. :toast:

Great shot Bill. I love the silhouettes as well as the details in the FG. Is this a 2 image blend? It could be me but I seem to see a darkness at the tops of the trees on the horizon.

Love it. So true to a Florida sunrise. Like the layers in the fg, the rim light and of course the sky.

:toast: I like the silhouetted zig-zags of the trunks and major limbs that make them stand out against the dawn.

This is great stuff, Bill. I love this area. Your control of the exposure (whether in the field or with TK's masks) is really great. Would love to see a large print of this one. Hope you are having a good weekend!

Wonderful silhouetted trees, Bill, and great color in the sky, with enough detail in the shadow areas to complement them.
