Don't Take My Picture

I took this image while vacationing at Olema, California. The place was teeming with hummingbirds, unfortunately, the light wasn't that great while we were there. However, I was able to get this shot which was probably the best of the bunch.

I do regret that this little bird didn't find an attractive branch to perch on!

Feedback always welcome.

Cute little guy, but he looks mean.

You did a good job in less then perfect light. The detail looks good. He looks like he is mad at the world.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, he does look mad doesn't he? I've taken several other shots of hummingbirds and some have the same express.

My 40D died 3 weeks prior to this vacation so I was forced to upgrade to a 7D. It took some getting used to, but I'm glad I had it because I doubt my 40D would have done as good a job at retaining this level of sharpness.

Audrey, an interesting display of rhynchokinesis - the ability of some birds to flex the upper mandible. A neat look at the behavior.

cute pose, Audrey. agree with you about wishing for a natural perch. comp is a little tight for me vertically--he feels sort of squished into the frame.

Good details & POV from the front with an obliging head turn Audrey.
Like the soft clean bokeh, I see a natural perch in your future next go around
