On that morning the sky was covered with very thick, low clouds. Sunrise colours, twilight was very grey. I thought to wait a bit longer for the light to come.
I was ready to find another theme but suddenly (there was no wind) the sun broke through the clouds giving a very beautiful ray of almost golden light.
My object was to capture that light as a topping of the water movement below.

I would be really interested in what you think about the composition and my development (mostly done by Tony Kupyer's techniques). If you have any specific corrections in mind by all means be harsh and post it

Thanks for looking and for your comments.

Good things come to those who wait  Very nice. The hotspot might be a tad hot for my taste but not an image breaker. Also seems it might use a tiny bit of CW rotation?

I like the sweeping water motion Tom and especially the dramatic sky. Only nit I have is the hot spot in the center but with scenes like this it is dificult to avoid since it is the major source of light for the rest of the scene. Maybe we need a special spot grad for hot spot reduction. Some people use a finger to try and block the light but I guess that only works for long exposures. I've tried that with little success. If anyone else has input I would love to hear it.

Nice work Tom. The glow across the clouds to the left is great and I like the link between sky and water with the light from the breakthrough reflecting off the waves.

I may have gone just a touch lighter throughout but it'd be personal preference as the mood of this is great.

Nicely seen and the dramatic lighting is special. The bright spot in the sky is a tad bright but shouldn't be hard to tone down. I'd suggest reprocessing the RAW file with that in mind, then blending the results into the image. Well done.

Thanks for looking and your comments guys :) Much appreciated!
I reckon I'll follow your suggestions with re to the hot spot. Will try to redo the RAW file again to tone down the hot spot.

Very dynamic Tom. As mentioned I would work on the hotspot. Your options are if there is more detail then blend that in. If there is not, I would actually let it blow out a little more around the edges so that the hotspot is not so well defined. Otherwise the processing is great.
