Outside the Windows
by Stan Rose
I was in Arches and Canyonlands UT over the weekend. This is from the famous 'Windows' area in Arches yesterday morn. The classic shots looking north/west werent gonna happen, but the sunrise to the east looked interesting, so i ditched the 'windows' and shot the landscape to the south and east.

Turning around occasionally is one of the best landscape photography tricks I know. Certainly worked here. I am really liking the orange/blue contrast and the way that my eye bounces back and forth between the sunrise and the rock formation middle-right. There is a really interesting downward arrow formed by the blue sky between the clouds. However I wondering if that detracts a little from the main subjects. I would consider a crop from the top to put the focus a little lower. Nevertheless this is a REALLY cool shot, Stan. Great work!

Love the dramatic skies and the light on the sandstone monolith, and the blend is absolutely perfect!
The lighting is gorgeous.
Well done.

That glow to the east is simply magical. I'm not loving all that scrub in the foreground, and between the two monuments, but there isn't much you can do about that.
Gorgeous
Im planning a week long trip to Arches and Canyon lands, in February. Found this beautiful image as I searched for interesting locations in the ESS gallery. I have 5 mornings and 5 evenings to capitalize on perfect light, thiswill be one of them. Thanks for sharing.
