King's Cross

It is rather sad to notice the conflict humans have with the wild creatures. India, being a densely populated country has an even bigger challenge.

This image was made during my trip to Gir National forest in the Indian state of Gujarat this summer. I was surprised to find a railway line passing through the heart of the forest reserve. The station is hardly 500 meters from the place where I got this king crossing the railway line. There is a busy mud track open for public transport cutting the park in almost 2 halves where taxis and motor bikes run at full speed with no ban on horns.

It is just a matter of time we'd have some serious accident. I feel sorry for the state of affairs.

What a compelling image Keshav! Sad to say, the circumstances you describe are becoming more typical than exceptional. There's a struggle currently under way in Russia according to the news accounts, and we face the same with a perpetual proposal to put a road through one of our wildlife refuges here in Alaska.

Hi Keshav, Your image popped up on Jim's new intro page, and it caught my eye. Great capture, and yes, all of the world is in conflict with wild creatures. It is a sad state of affairs.
