Natures Palette

I think that almost everyone that has seen a Wood Duck drake, marvels at the color palette that Mother Nature used. I had several closeups shot with a long lens this spring and thought isolating the feather patterns and colors of the side pocket area would make an interesting photo.

Larger version available, thanks for stopping!

I like this as an abstract. No mistaking it as a woodie though! If I were to pick a nit it would be that I don't think the far right side adds much - I think because the light changes there and it is brighter and perhaps a little overexposed. So I might try playing with cropping to simplify & unify it more.

Thanks for presenting something different.

neat shot, Craig. great colors and details. I agree with Julie that I might tinker with the comp a little if it were mine, but like it as posted. reminds me of a similar abstract shot I took last winter that I've been debating on posting here--maybe I'll pull that up and post it tomorrow.

Great seeing, Craig. You've done a great job on the detail. If it were mine, I might try to tease a little more detail out of the white feather in the upper left. And kudos for getting this close to a Woodie, even with big glass.

Lovely colors, I like the abstract quality. I can identify it as belonging to a Wood Duck, but it's really about color and form and patterns. :toast:
