Diamonds in the Ruff

Rain-soaked leaves and acorns lying on the grass. Taken with a Leica D-lux 4 @ 24mm, f/8, ISO 80, 1/500 s, aperture mode, spot meter.

The sun sparkling on the raindrops caught my eye but when I later looked at the images on the computer, the grass was distracting.

I converted the image to B/W and then selected sections of the image to repaint in various layers. I wanted to set the mood of the rainy day as we view the overlooked gems lying on the ground.

Thanks for your comments and critiques.

Carol, This is very different and I like that you thought a little differently for this one. I might make the right edge white like the others if it were mine. Nice vision.

Interesting treatment, very mimimalist and graphic. I like the idea and this works. I agree with Denise about the edge treatment, and I think I'd also prefer to see the raindrops in their original state - I think that would add impact.

This is very intriguing but perhaps a little too stark and contrasty for me. I like the suggestion Denise offered about the far FHS.

Very creative Carol and I like the muted color. I will have to study this some more.

Second post is much better IMO. I like the minimalistic feel to it, vignetting adds mood and now my eye is focused on the main subject...the leaf. In the first version I feel that there is too much extranneous stuff around the leaf. Nice, Carol and well thought out.

Hi Carol :wavey :Very imaginative and thought provoking!
the stark graphic lines around the leaf , convey a sombre mood. Would the leaf depict hope and joy.?
