Reflections

It was late in the morning and the light had gotten harsh so I decided to pull the kayak up on a small cypress island to stretch my legs and eat a snack. As I sat there, a cloud passed over so I set up in a hurry and grabbed a few images in the softer light. Every year I make plans to go to another part of the country to see the fall colors some place new. But when the time comes, I just can't bear to leave the swamps at my favorite time of year. These places still surprise me.

I don't think I've ever commented on any of your swamp images but I've been meaning to. I have loved all of them and I find them so mesmerizing. Why should you leave for other parts of the country when you have such beauty in your own backyard  . Your cypresses are beautiful. I live about 3 hours north of Shawnee National Forest which has some cypress areas but nothing compared to what you have. Our cypresses are pretty skimpy and moss does not grow this far north. So...I'd much rather see your cypress shots than mine!!! Thanks for all the years you've been sharing the Louisiana images. Look forward to many more images!

Oh my, David you are killing me with these wonderful shots. I love the way you set up the reflection. One of the most attractive features of these moss draped trees is the way the moss hangs and drapes from the branches and you really show that off here. This is fabulous and one of your best yet. :toast:

Your images of this beautiful place are so amazing David! I love the delicate orange leaves against the gray of the moss covered cypress trees and their reflection. Absolutely beautiful work!

I really loved the moody atmospheric shots from before. But in terms of color pallette, and richness of that color, this is my favorite. I just love the reflections, and the earthy tones.

This is definitely my favorite of your recent cypress images. The reflection just draws me in, but after the reflection my eyes also fall in love with the details in the trucks and the glorious color. Another winner David.

Another excellent image from you fall series in the swamps of LA. I must admit..I never thought of LA as being a destination for fall colors but you may have changed that!

David,

This is simply fantastic! I really can't think of anything to critique - I could stare at this - and all your other cypress images as well. The previous post which I failed to comment on is simply phenomenal. Beautiful imagery, just beautiful.

another utterly fabulous image. the only thing that comes to mind is i can see another, more abstract composition just above the level of the buttresses (i.e., zoomed into the the trunks on the trees above the buttresses but just below that horizontal layer of gold-orange leavee, if you see what i mean).
