In The Glow

First, thank you for the feedback on the previous images. My 4x5's arrived yesterday so I will be busy with those for several days if not a week or more preparing them.

In the meantime, here is another digital teaser of more to come. Taken on Veteran's Day, about an hour or so before sunset. The light reflecting off of El Capitan onto these oaks was beautiful and subtle at the same time.

Your feedback is much appreciated. The large file shows much more fine detail.

Lovely scene, the soft light is very pleasing, and nice colors. Well balanced comp as well.

The soft glow makes this beautiful scene more delicate. Well executed.

Youssef,

This is the quiet beauty of Yosemite that just speaks volumes about the magic of this place. Probably like you, I have watched the workshop attendees, I've driven by, watched, waited and photographed this tree countless times over the years. And honestly, I've never considered this composition. And I love this! This big oak has lots of character all by itself, but putting it in it's surroundings with such beautiful, soft light just makes this even more special.

I can't get enough of this place and images like this will say why. Gorgeous Youssef!

The larger version must be viewed.

Hi Youssef,

Great composition - very well done. I love this tree in the foreground - the only thing I might suggest is to burn in the background trees and granite behind it a bit. My initial reaction was to hunt for the subject a bit as the contrast is similar across the image.

You nailed this, Youssef! The light is really sweet; soft and luminous. The tonality of the wall in the background is perfect and really allows the forest to stand out. You might consider a slight burn down of the the tree in the upper right corner and down the right side about one third of the image. I really like the glow of the foreground grasses and the trunks of the trees.

Very nice, indeed!

Ever since Lon got some great shots of this tree, I've decided I have a date with destiny with it myself! But, I have yet to succeed. This is way nicer than anything I have managed so far. It's timing, and light I guess. Very nice!

Absolutely superb, Youssef, absolutely superb. The glow, the color, your composition. Phenomenal. The large image is truly a feast for the eyes. A print from the 4x5 of this will be stunning.

Nice comp, looks like some of Lon's stuff. It seems a tad soft to me but thats probably monitor/compression related and no one has mentioned it so its probably nothing to worry about.
