Oxbow Bend & Tetons BW

I made this image in May on my first and only trip to Jackson Hole. There was still a lot of snow on the Teton's so I decided to take this to B/W and push the contrast some. Thanks in advance for your comments & critiques.

I took a pretty nice shot of this about 5 years ago. I wrecked it in the processing and didn't save it as a copy, doh! have not been able to get back for a redux since. This is really nice in a stark way. I might like a tiny bit less contrast on the mountains. And a tiny bit more contrast on the foreground bushes and bare aspen in the midground.

This is a beautiful B&W Wayne. Wonderful contrast and visual impact. Just wondering if there is a slight tilt to the right but just may be a optical illusion.

B&W works great here. Makes all the snow all the more remarkable. Neat take on the usual colorful scenes from here.

Beautiful, Wayne! B&W works really well with all that snow for contrast. Looks like some nice fauna as well... :wavey:

Gorgepus, but I agree it needs some leveling.

Agreed. Level and go to a 4x6 crop. Find the comp there. The posted image looks flat too.

A very strong b/w image Wayne. Nice comp and great processing. I like the angle of the fg grass and it's balance in the frame. There does seem a slight tilt, but often this is an illusion. Nice work!

Wayne,

I think because of all the wonderful images we've seen from this spot, I would be inclined to exclude the grasses and some of the water in the lower part of the image. For me, it's all about the mountain range and the sky/clouds. I think a pano crop would separate this a little bit from all the ones that we see. The snow/contrast and sky all look great. The bottom grasses are just kinda flat and I think take away from the grandness of the scene. Just my .02

There's a lot to like in the image, Wayne, and to my eye one of the things that helps set it apart are the delicate cloud formations. It's not a spectacular sky, but it helps set off the sharpness and detail of the rest of the scene. I also like the texture of the foreground brush, and of course the spectacular snow-coated mountain peaks.
