Layers

This morning I had the good fortune to meet and shoot along side NPN's Georg Popp in my home waters at Lake Fausse Point. He'll be there for seven days and I can't wait to see what the place looks like through his lens. Judging from his body of work, I know it will be special. The overcast light was very flat so I tried to give this some depth in color and texture by doing a three image blend for depth of field.

Perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the other shots you've posted but I really like the way you've juxtaposed a detail shot over the context.

Layers is right, David. Your images from here have been something I look forward to. The complexity and seemingly unlimited layers all about are wonderful. The textures and colors are uniquely different.

Thanks for sharing

Man, you really had a go on these trees there and every shot was wonderful so far. That's efficiency.

Yeah, you're going to do fine at the new "Nature Prints" gallery here on NPN now. You might end up hating it because you are going to be so busy!
It's not just the scenes you bring, but your vision that you bring to us. Great use of lines, light, color, and textures. I just dig your style, man. :toast:

I'm sure you have inspired many others to shoot exactly where you have shot before. Maybe they don't know there are other places wtih your fall swamp views the same type of trees through out the state. We all flock to the same tripod holes as a form of insurance of getting great shots. Anyway, I would pay good money to have you take me around Lake Maurepas and Lake Fausse. You will always be the first who has this place stuck in my memory David, thanks for pioneering the place for the NPNers. Fantastic series, keep them coming!

Very nice. Love the layers and the textures. The little bit of color in the top really sets it off. Everything about it was done very well.

I like the repetition of the fanning tree trunk shape from fg to bg, and the small splash of color from the leaves. Very nicely composed and produced.

I just love your swamp photos! I love the textures and the red/orange in the upper right. Feels like it needs a slight CCW rotation. Perhaps crop a bit off the left to a 4x5 aspect ration? Keep 'em coming! :toast:

You seem to do no wrong with your work from this area. I like this, and like pretty much all of your posts of these trees for that matter. It's a bit different than your usual, but it showcases the elegant lines of the foreground tree and the color in the background adds a nice accent.

David,

Your Cypress work is always outstanding and a joy to view. and this one is no exception. Excellent job showing the details of the trunk and including it in it's "environment." Great work.

Sweet, David. You are the the cypress master, for sure. What a great collection of images you have of them, and so many good ones. I love the delicacy you can bring to these scene. Just curious--are these all taken from a boat

Thanks for the feedback on this image everyone. I'm trying to find new ways to frame these scenes and not become too repetitive.

Tony,,,,,,some are from a kayak with the tripod in the water and some are wading along the shore. It all depends on water depth and how soft the bottom is in the particular spot. This one is a wader.

Just perfect. Nothing to add. A very LARGE print would do it much justice. :-)
