Ringed Plover

This species has been a bogey bird of mine for quite a while, so I was pleased to find a very confiding Ringed Plover on a recent visit to the north Norfolk coast earlier this month.

Any views on the sharpness of both images would be appreciated, I seem to be struggling with my sharpening technique and thanks for looking.

All comments and critique most welcome and thanks for the feedback on my last post, cheers.

Sharpness looks spot on to me Andy. Love the little catchlight in it's eye.

Sharpness looks good to me. Fine image-perhaps a little hot on the chest.

Nice light and composition. Sharpness looks good to me as posted. I agree with Dan about the chest - especially in the larger version.

Detail and sharpness are just fine. Lovely image of this bird with nice eye contact and catch light.

Lovely little birds these Alan but I find they are never still and it's nice to get an image like this FF. The bird looks really sharp to me throughout and there is good detail in most of the whites, perhaps the loss of detail in some places is due to the compression of the image for posting and may be present in your original. Nice one Andy - the sharpness looks fine to me. Maybe a lower angle would help, but I know that's not always possible

cheers

Very nice presentation Andy. The upper background defines the bird well and you caught a flattering pose. On my monitor the whitest whites don't look hot, just lacking a bit in detail.

Thanks for the feedback guys :toast:

Hi Ron, I noticed the lack of detail also, especially on the body of the plover, the head shows lots of detail and shooting at f8 I would have expected detail throughout the bird  so not sure why this would be.
