Geographe bay

A longer exposure of Geographe Bay, in Australia's south West. There was quite a lot of cloud movement on the night, but I didn't expect to get this unusual convergence on the centre of the horizon.
Your thoughts welcomed.
D300, 12-24mm Nikkor, f/8, couple of minutes exposure.

The radiating clouds and B&W conversion are wonderful Scott.

Wow, intriguing sky really makes this outstanding, Scott. I love the fact that a few stars are also shining through.

A very dynamic Image Scott, I like the B&W conversion and the composition with the sky is beauitful. My only nit, I think it could be a little sharper. nice work.

Normally, the lights on the horizon would be a distraction, but here they are very interesting because of the cloud movement that seemingly emanates from that location. I wouldn't mind a bit more contrast on this one. It's good as is, but seems a bit on the low contrast side.

Nice light and clouds for a dramatic comp. I guess I'd say it looks a bit gray. Pulling the middle grays a little whiter might help a bit.

Killer sky. Terrific mood and texture. A great choice for b&w.

Scott,

The convergence as you described does really make the image and creates a nice dynamic, leading to the light source. Guessing from the multiple points of lights I'm assuming those are man made and not the rising moon or stars or something? I do think those lights are important so I wouldn't clone them out in this case, but will mention that this would be better suited for the Man & Nature Gallery. Please consider that for future postings. Thanks!

I like these long exposure shots, and this one is great
I don't know if they're stars or dead or stuck pixels, but it doesn't matter, they'll pass for stars.
The cloud movement is really eye catching.
Well done.

Geoff.

Excellent long exposure image Scott. The radiating clouds add a lot to this one. I'm also a big fan of the misty sea, which looks great here too. Good choice for b/w. As mentioned, the rocks could be a bit sharper. A very nicely composed image!
