Looks like nobody else is going to post in our new gallery so I'll go ahead and toss out another one from my archives.

This is the last leg of the Trans Alaska Pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez. Looking down the pipeline Right of Way and access road to the Terminal where a Tanker is loading at a berth.

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f8.0, 1/800, hand held

This is the type of photo that reinforces the just ridiculous natural beauty that is part of the out the kitchen window, in the back yard, or on the way to work for most Alaska residents. Thanks for posting.

Looks like you found some sunshine and blue sky! Aside from nice composition and a great subject, what strikes me about this was how well you portrayed "cold."

I did find myself wondering if I would like the image better if you cropped the snow off the bottom, so the path starts at the bottom of the frame. It kind of gives a feeling of being "launched" into the photo. Just a thought.

Gary, I had a completely different thought from everyone else when I looked at this photo!!!! My first thought was: That photo was taken on the pipeline right-of-way!! Do they watch who is on that right-of-way? I thought that in summer, at least, they really kept an eye on it.....or is this part of your work..... Sorry, didn't mean to get sort of off topic, but that was my first thought!
Anyway, yeah, good portrait of cold and snowy and a unique view of the terminal. Really good color and contrast in the snow. Nicely done, and yeah, I'll try to post on here, too.

Genny; this part of the Right of Way is open to the public for about a quarter mile because it is the only access to Solomon lake and the Copper Valley Electric Dam up there. In general, the public is allowed to cross the access road but not travel along it. This is one of the few exceptions. As an employee of Alyeska, I have access to the Right of Way for work purposes but not for recreational purposes.

Thanks, Gary! We've thought about going up to that dam a couple of times, but have never made it, and now that you say this, I probably should have know that the trail went across there just from looking at the map. Right of ways are plentiful across the state, and are typically used as travel-ways, whether it's legal or not.....
It is a really neat view; I've only ever seen the terminal from the road, and from the ferry, once. Hope to see it from the air sometime, as we'd like to fly over there sometime..... T
