Glossy Ibis

These birds look a bit like a flying oil slick, all that sheen. They are great subjects in the right light. I like the early morning light here and the BG. I am really liking the fact that I can now shoot at ISO 800 and even ISO 1000 with no real noise issues. Please view the larger image as the detail is much better. Thanks.

Terrific image. Great position to show off those wing coverts. Lovely color in the clean background to set off this "plain" species.

Pretty oil slick, Ron. Those high ISO's come in handy. Good head detail and I really like that creamy bg.

Hi Ron: Very nice. They are pretty in the right light. Love the little drop of water under the back foot.

I wish I could shoot at ISO 800 with no NR and have no grain. Must be nice. Wonderful photo, Ron.

A stunning image Ron. Super flight posture and light to show off the plumage and I love the background. I can't recall seeing a better flight shot of the species. Loved your "oil slick" analogy! Your skills and that new camera make for a killer combination.

Sweet capture Ron, the balanced colours work well and the wing position is nailed.

Well done all around. Love those dangling legs-even they seem to have an lovely iridescence. Background almost echos the colors in the ibis.

Well, I can't but add to the unadulterated praise you have very deservedly received for this shot, Ron. Beautiful. No nits. I've been finding the same pleasant ISO experience with the 1D Mark IV! Nice to see it is working well for you with the BIF shots. :toast: :toast:

Beautiful flight shot. I really think the background sets off the bird beautifully. The light is excellent.
