Hey, guys and girls!
While Andreas and I were exploring the shores of the Findelbach river in the Matterhorn area, I noticed these nice sand patterns. Positioning the tripod to get the perspective I wanted proved to be impossible, so I had to take this one handheld. But I can assure you it's very sharp.
Hope you like the way I processed it and I'm waiting for your honest critiques.

Hmmm--to be honest this one really isnt grabbing me. I kind of like the vertical part of the left side, with those nice patterns, but the rest is just too homogeneous--there's not enough structure so the B&W just ends up a uniform grainy gray. I like the idea, just one of those shots that doesnt translate for me. :wavey:

Hey, Stan! Thank you so much for the honesty here. Being an abstract, I don't expect that everyone likes it, but I was very intrigued by the difference in the sand patterns and the way that clear zone in the middle separated them. It was something I've never seen before. Maybe an increase in contrast would bring more definition and separation, although it's already at a high level. I might give it a try. Thank you again and I'm always glad to hear your opinion and especially the arguments.

I still remember you hunched over in that place looking like you dropped something. When I looked down there, I knew why - these ripples have some potential and I also had some of them in a different shot of mine.
I like it. It has a nice abstract feel about it. The comp maybe is a bit steady, but this makes it more calming. Man, if only we had some sun then and now - imagine nice colored reflections on these ripples.

Hi Dorin,
I find the vertical central part of the image (the one ripple-free) quite boring: i think that it is there where the picture looses its abstract quality. To me, at least.

Way cool abstract, Dorin. I love the textures and details in this intimate landscape. This is just a personal preference, but I would clone out a little section in the upper left where the smooth area meets the rippled area. It reminds me of dust on the sensor even though I know it's not. BTW,wonderful tones in this image also.

Hey Dorin,

I like this one as it has a great vibe to it. Ya its monochrome and flat but I think thats the direction of the shot.
The simplicity is what works here. The patterns are great and almost like a tough skin of a rhino or snake
The abstract quality about this make it enjoyable to me.

thanks for sharing

Interesting positive/negative quality to the sand waves. Sort of abstract in this regard. I like the contrast you've brought to this scene.
