In My Woods

Taking a small break from fall color to show the trees in my "backyard" the Santa Cruz Mountains. A patron at one of my art shows asked if I had a photo of trees that made him feel as if he was up in the trees looking out. Well I did not at the time until now and knew exactly where I could make such an image. So last month I did.

4x5, 300mm, f22, 5 sec, Fuji Provia 100F

Your thoughts appreciated.

I think you've capture a true slice of forest vibe. Looks similar to to the forests in my area. :toast:

Great job Youssef. Reminds me of the forests that we have locally.

Awesome, Youssef--ive attempted such shots before and they are real tough to both compose and present--you did a great job here! :toast:

Very nice work. The mossy foreground trees leading into the tall evergreens give it a fine sense of depth.

Beautiful, Youssef. I love how you've played the gnarled, diagonal trees off against the straight ones in the background. Classy work!

This is excellent!
I like how the gnarled trees in front are so different from the straighter, more stately trees in the back. Lots of depth here, and the colors (and luminance)are wonderful.

Very pretty Youssef - love those "wooly" trees. I can pratically smell the richness and dampness in the air.

This is a beauty, Youssef! You have created a wonderful sense of depth with the moss covered FG trees leading the viewer to the evergreens in the BG. I love the array of lush greens in this forest scene. :toast:

Man, that's a backyard! Love it Youssef. Light, structure of the composition and the subject matter as such all appeal a lot to me.

It does feel like I'm up in the trees looking out. I like the separation of the fg trees from the bg, which creates a nice depth to the image. Lovely work.

Beautiful glow on the foreground trunks. I like the way the two different kinds of trees overlap in such a harmonious way.

This definitely captures the "looking out" quality you were after, Youssef. I really like the "curtain" of moss-covered trunks in the foreground and the array of trunks beyond. I really have no sense of the height here, but it feels high.

I like the contrast between the slanted moss-covered trees and the bare, straight pines in the bg. A beautiful representation!

This is superb, Youssef. Really superb. The contrast of the textured moss covered trees in the foreground with the straight, strong verticals of the trees in the background make this just sing. Fantastic. I'm sure your client would absolutely love a print of this image.
