Crowning Glory

A follow-up to my last post, this was taken sometime after the sun had risen. I've had some luck with photographing the few icons I visited in Scotland. For only a minute or two the peak of Buachaille Etive Mor glowed red and this cloud passed through it just at that moment.

Wow, I could look at the large version of this all day, Kah kit. I love the colors you captured here. The comp really works well and the little waterfalls look great. I like the shutter speed you used for that. The cloud being the reverse of the mountain is a nice extra touch. Very nice!

Wonderful waterfall in the foreground Kah Kit. The light is excellent and I like your choice of centering the pyramid like Mor. Trees that intersect the skyline are usually a huge nit of mine, but for your image I think they work well and the processing is spot on.

I suppose luck always plays some part in landscape photography since we can never know exactly what we will be given but to have the vision and craft to capture such a moment as this is pure artistry.

This is very nice with the cloud making such a perfect triangle over the peak. I've often wondered, is this really the only cascade on this creek that compliments the peak so well?

Lovely foreground and the inverted trianglular cloud formation mirroring the mountain is splendid!

I prefer the vertical comp but this is also a nice image. That cloud complements the peak nicely.

Wonderful, Kah. Both renditions have their own mood and look great. I like the brighter light on the center here which shows how interesting this spot really is.

I love how the cloud has the same form as the mountain. Killer comp and exposure!

Wicked shot! That sunlit cloud over the peak really puts this one over the top for me. Can't find anything to nit here. The bottom edge of the first series of falls does a nice job inviting the viewer into the scene.

Thanks for showing us the large version. It simply puts me there. I hope that next year I'll have the opportunity to photograph these beautiful places. Your images are one more reason to go there.

They don't get much better than this Kah, it's one of the few icons I'll never tire looking at.

Kah Kit,

Nice series on the blog and a good explanation of the changing light, but your image here is the most dramatic. So Scotland is just alwasy dreary grey and green. Nice...

Another beautiful image of a place I need to visit Kah Kit. Fabulous orange cloud above Buachaille Etive Mor.

Kah,

I can see from your blog that you've covered most all the comps you could have made from here - I was going to suggest a vertical slice out of this posting here, but I figure you already had that covered.

There is so much to enjoy with this location and this capture. The cloud echoing the mountain really stands out, but so does the cascades at the bottom. Well done!

I personally like the overall color tone to this, of course the sunlit cloud directly over the peak is an eye catcher. The colors even though very nice seem to be somewhat muted, like the contrast has been decreased. Just doesn't seem to have that pop like many of your images do Kah Kit, but this is a lovely scene and well worth the capture. The composition seems slightly untypical which I believe makes it more appealing visually, your compositions are always great and this is no exception.

Follow up: The first vertical and last horizontal on you blog are wonderful and in my opinion much stronger than this image.

Granted I probably haven't been as over-exposed (no pun intended) as some to this iconic location, but the foreground is definitely new to me, and I like it. The perfect partnership between cloud and mountain and the borderline symmetry in the top half of the photo are also great.

I prefer this image to your previous post due to seeing more of the fg falls, which are just beautiful. The warm glow adds so much to the richness.

Great blog post Kah, I enjoyed it a lot. This is not my favorite of your shots from here, but is still very nice, especially with the cloud mimicking the peak.

The overall scene is very well captured but my favorite two elements is the water fall and reddish cloud. :toast:

I have seen this shot so many times as it is a classic location...I can't understand why people always shoot from this position.

It is a nice version of the classic view though.

If you go again I would examine the Maps as there are a lot of possibilities in this area.
