Thin Ice

It has been a while since I posted anything so here goes.

A thin layer of ice has formed along the shores Astotin Lake in Elk Island National Park. I hoped for some interesting patterns. But I found this interesting enough in its own way. This was taken about 2 weeks ago.

Now I would like to ask you if there is enough interest to hold your attention. I look forward to your thoughts on this shot.

Thankyou.

The intrusion on the left edge could be cropped or cloned out, but the rest of the image is quite pleasant in its simplicity.

Mel seemed to have taken the words right out of my mouth (or fingers in this case). I think a lower perspective may have also helped to emphasize the textures in the icy foreground. I too like the simplicity.

I like the subtle tones here William. The composition is effective with the placement of the foreground rock and island. I would clone out that rock on the left as previously noted.

Nicely done. As noted, the intrusion on the left needs to be fixed.I find the main interest here is the relationship between the rock and the row of trees, so a crop of most of the sky would emphasize this better. NIce subtle lighting. :toast:

Will,

Great to see you back and posting an image. Nice title as the "thin ice" is fairly apparent here. I like your simply composition here. The line of color on the horizon is a wonderful asset to this image. In fact, I think you have some room if you wanted to boost the color/saturation a little bit. Of course a matter of personal preference.

the only small nit I have would be to suggest cloning or cropping left the little black rock/log or whatever on the left side of the frame. It's an eye magnet. You might also try a small crop of the sky for a little bit better sky/land/water balance.
