Smokies Spring

Have just re-joined NPN after several years away. Image of an old walnut tree was taken this past spring in Cataloochee Cove while on a workshop with NANPA. Wanted to go back this fall to see how the scene would look, but never got the chance.

Nikon D700, 70-200 mm F2.8 @ 125 mm, F16, 1/20 sec.

Looks like a painting it's a very beautiful image, I like the muted colors in the background and the isolated tree. I can see this hanging from a nice wall.

This is a very serene photo. The sliver of sunlight behind the tree is really what pulls this composition together.

Neat contrast between the foreground element and the more painterly background. Makes for an effective comp to really show the stark branches in this manner.

Tom - this is a really beautiful image. The sliver of light makes it special and helps add depth between the tree and the background. Very serene.

I love lone trees and this morning capture of the silhouette against the soft background is nice indeed.

Tom,

Welcome back!

The background light is just beautiful - painterly as someone has already mentioned. Just a great silhouette of the lone tree. I can't think of anything to suggest, other than to post a larger version!

Hope to see more soon.

Nice feel with this Tom. The lone tree with the light and fog/mist really works nice here. I really like that band of light going across at the base of the tree. Nice that you re-joined, know you were thinking about. Well done, Tom!
