Peek-A-Boo Bear

Another Brown Bear shot from the Crescent Lake area near Lake Clark NP in Alaska. This was taken during a rare sunny moment on our trip and it was still early in the day so the angle was nice. Mom and cub spent a good half hour scavenging salmon just across the river from us before moving downriver and out of sight. What I like about this is that it shows how easily these large animals can disappear into the tall grass that grows along the banks of so many of these Alaskan rivers. C&C always appreciated. Thanks for looking!

I really like the watchful cub. The light is very good. Low angle is good. Wish mom hadn't chosen to pose in those dead branches but completly out of your control. I really like how the image shows mom and cub interacting.

Joe, I like the positioning of the two individuals and how you have chosen to compose this. It was a good choice to stop down for maximum DOF to get both bears in focus. I do agree that from this image it is not hard to imagine these big bears can disappear easily in that tall grass.

Very natural habitat image, I especially like the little one in the grass. The bears are looking in different directions and are in different poses. I feel you could take just a sliver off the right side to balance the composition just a little more.
