Taken on a run from the last leg of clearing storm, light lasted for few minutes. The scene looked a lot more impressive than I made it to look, i was focused on preparing for the upcoming sunset.

North AZ, sideways from Grand Canyon NP.
Canon 40D, 24-105L, hand held with the support of a tree branch.

C&C welcome

Very dramatic lighting here Vlad. I like the sun rays coming down from the top and illuminating mesa.

Very dramatic light. I could see darkening the top edge some to keep the viewer's eye better in the frame.

The light here is very interesting. It took me a while to get y bearings for where the light was coming from.

Vlad,

Welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery! What a grand and dramatic entrance with this image! This must have been a sight to see and you captured and crafted this wonderfully. I like that you included a dark silhouette of the landscape at the bottom. Just a well executed capture of beautiful and timely light.

Welcome! We look forward to more images and your participation.

I love the light on the distant mesa, it really seems to glow in the stormy gloom. That atmospherics above further add the image as well.

dedicated to the art of expressing nature

Wow, I think this is a profound statement about our craft! It could be the theme for NPN.... I've never heard this expression and I think it nails what we do and who we are as nature photographers! It ties "art" directly with nature and photography. I love it!

Did you come up with this, or is there credit elsewhere??? I'd certainly love to use this expression.

Anyway, not sure if anyone else will pick this up at this point, but just wanted to let you know I love the expression!

Nicely captured rays and the spotlighting is sweet.

Lon, gee, thanks ! -- truth is more mundane. I am not a native English speaker and this is my loose translation of how I describe my impression plus the key reason I like the forum.. No copyright or any other restriction on use of course :).

Tony : thanks for the advice, it does help. I have 3 complementary images from the same location, which go in sequence. Darkening the top for this one makes it fit with the other two..

Gino : she says thanks for the compliment. That's the only type of "portraiture" i tried to do :)
