Song Sparrow

We have had quite a bit of fowl weather here in the Pacific Northwest lately. Snow, rain, hail and high winds to boot. And to make matters worse, I have had zero time to get outside. However, for the Thanksgiving weekend I loaded everything up in the travel trailer and headed out to the Port Angeles area, to one of my family's favorite spots. We had one day with sunbreaks and this Song Sparrow came out to enjoy them!

Beautiful capture, Mike. The sharpness of the sparrow in contrast to the background is really sweet! Great head turn too.

I like the habitat included here, Mike. The soft reeds enhance the detail of the bird. Nice one.

Really like the perky alert pose Mike and the setting works very well IMO. Perhaps a minor narrow halo around the tail - particularly noticeable where the tail crosses the bright background reed. Minor and easily fixed.

Excellent, detail, Mike and I like the composition and dof. It shows the reeds nicely, while letting the sparrow dominate the image. :toast:

Love the comp here Michael with all the nice habitat. Nice detail and exposure. Might back off on the sharpening just a bit to get rid of the thin halo around the bird, but that is a minor nit on a great image.

Excellent composition; nice setting and subject posture. A bit too much sharpening, though, that makes the plumage look artificial and "scratchy."

Great perky pose Michael! Love the head turn, lifted tail, setting and the warm, natural colors. Your comp works very well. Agree that I would back off the sharpening just a bit. This is really very appealing to me.

Mike,
a very cute little guy well captured. I agree about back off sharpening a bit.

Love the setting and head turn Mike. Maybe a tad over-sharpened in the larger version?

cheers
