The Battlefield

Last spring I was sent to Virginia for work so I made a visit to the Manassas Battlefield. I was the only person there because I had to go after business hours. It was humid (it had been raining all day), overcast, and the wind had kicked up. As I wandered around reading the informational plaques showing the position of the troops on the field, I could almost feel what had happened there. It was a deeply emotional response to an empty field that I wasn't expecting! After a while I decided to head back to the car; it looked like the clouds weren't going to let any light through, afterall. At the last group of cannons before the parking lot, the light show started!
I am as interested in what you think of the image as I am in what you think of the processing (we got the Nik software package for an early Christmas gift)!

I grew up in Manassas, and used to call the battlefield park my second home. I've taken thousands of photographs of the landscape there, and this is as nice as anything I've ever managed.

Wonderful detail in the foreground and fantastic sky work together to make this an excellent image Anne. The sky almst mimics an explosion.
