Solway Starlings

The following was taken on the Solway about 2 weeks ago simply as I was passing at the correct time of day.

It is the starting bunch of the Gretna starling roost and they where coming in from the setting sun over the Firth - it was a short window of bright orange then simply grey.

I was completely over gunned for the experience at the roost as all I had on the SLR was a 500mm - you really need to bring a 70-200mm. Managed to get away with it as I had a 28mm with me (will show some later) otherwise options would have been extremely limiting.

I love this - no comments?! Very nicely composed and superb background. Most unusual and enjoyable.
