Black-Capped Chickadee

Taken in the same session as my previous Nuthatch post. The light wasn't quite as warm, but I liked the tones. The largish branch to the right was unfortunate, and I tried removing it,but couldn't succeed in making the result look right. I eventually resorted to adding a very light gradient layer heavily biased to the right to tone it down a bit and just left it there.

7D, 500mm f4 + 1.4TC, Black Widow on Gitzo legs, f8, 1/500, iso 400. manual exposure, cropped from 18 to 10.7 MP. Normal processing in CS4. Taken at 3:37 PM on November 23rd.

I always appreciate your comments and criticisms.

Thanks for looking,

Great feather detail in this little bugger, Dennis! You already noted the obvious nit. That sure is frustrating when you have an otherwise worthy image, but just can't make it look quite right.

Nice pose, Dennis and good catch light in the eye. Wish I could help you removing that branch. Have you tried "Content fill"?

Cheers,

Carol

Great detail and light on the bird Dennis. maybe crop a little tighter (which I normally wouldn't advocate) and this might make you're cloning a little simpler?

cheers

Wonderful feather detail on the larger image, too bad about the large branch as the background colors are very nice. I was wondering if those are water droplets on the beak?
Nice job in getting this.

Very, very nice image of one of my favorite little birds. The image of the bird is so good that the branch on the right did not really distract me until I read your post and looked at it.

Super detail on this Chickadee Dennis. The branch is no big deal to me, but if you want it cloned out I can take a stab at it.

lovely chickadee, Dennis. I like the light and bg a lot, and don't think the extra branch is a big deal. not perfect, but not a big deal.

I think the light was still quite nice and warm. Excellent details on the bird. Nice pose. I don't find that limb to be all that distracting.

I'm fine with the image as posted, Dennis. The bird is highlighted by a golden background that really focuses my attention on it. Great detail and color. Nice pose. Interesting perch. Outstanding catchlight. :toast:
