Heron w/prey

I got up pretty close on this one. The bird was picking small crabs out of the tidal pool every afternoon for a week or so and was occupied enough to let me slip in and take my shots.

Critiques and comments are always welcome.

I love when I can watch these birds feed in the marshes during summer... great action with those feathers shooting upward... BG is a little distracting, but not bad.

Nicely done Dan! Great subject and timing, nice and sharp though the BG could be a tad more OOF but that's a very minor nit. Congrats!

Yum yum. This is a bird high on my want to see list for someday. Love the turned up head plumes, munchy meal, red eye, and the warm background.

Love the prey in the bill Dan and the light in the heron's eye.
