Wilderbeasts crossing during a small part of the great migration. Unable to set up a tripod in the jeep, so handheld, with Canon 400mm and 7D body at ISO 400.

nice action shot. only a couple of thoughts: I would have included all the left handed Wildebeest instead of sewing it half way (supposed this is not FF and you got frame on that side) an then try to lower the highlights especially in the area of the water foam. I would have liked to look at a larger version to appreciate the details.
Cheers, Luca

Great action. I always wondered what it would be like to do stills from here. All i've ever seen are movies. Shouldn't he be jumping into the jaws of a croc?

Hi Michael and welcome to NPN This is quite a spectacular image you are starting off with here in this gallery. That jump is quite impressive. Apart from the jump I like the chaos and the splashing water. What disturbs me is the embankment in the BRC of the frame. I also echo Luca's remark about including more room (and wildebeest) on the left side. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see many more images as well as comments from you here in the Fauna Gallery.

Geat action shot, Michael! Must have been a very interesting experience to see this migration at close. I like your framing.

Someday I want to witness this spectacle! I really like how you caught the individual at the apex of the leap. My only regret is we are not seeing a larger version to fully appreciate detail!

Awsome action shot Michael, that really shows the frantic mood these animals feel.
The only small nit I have is the photo leaves me wanting to see more on the left side.

Classic action of Wilderbeast. It would be nice to have a bit more of the action on the left side in the photo if that were possible. Not too fond of the green border, but that's personal taste.

An entirely different viewpoint to what I have seen before, it works very well for me.
