Rainy Day Iris

by Craig Strand

After 2 weeks of rain, "Cabin Fever" had me driving to the local florist to pick up a few Iris blooms to photograph. This is a stack of 16 shots which I then ran thru Helicon Focus. I used my canon speed lite with the power adjusted to 1/128 and a honeycomb lite filter to keep the lite low and soft.

Good looking stack Craig. Beautiful color and I like your lighting as well. Good to see you posting. Fine looking image for my tastes. No suggestions.

Craig, great job on the stack. I love the detail and colours. The lighting gives the impression the Iris is in a gallery showcase showing off it's best features.
Only nit is the stem. I'm not sure about the stem. Particularly the shadow on the stem. I find it a bit distracting. But that's just me. It's a great image. Maybe you should get cabin fever more often

The lighting and comp are utterly fantastic, Craig. I love the glow on the flower petals. BTW, great call with the black BG. :toast:

Gorgeous! I have never done 'stacking' and don't know the technicals of it, but obviously it was successful here. Beautiful color and nice light.

Beautifully crafted! The light is excellent and the detail is phenomenal! At first glance I thought it was a purple spider...

Craig:
Love this with your signature flash lighting. Gorgeous image and very good stacking. You might like to consider darkening the leaf near the lower border to the same color as the shadow to make it less distracting and remove the abrupt flash shadow effect.

Lovely, rich tones, Craig and splendid lighting. The stacking is superb, and I actually like the fact that the stem is partly in deep shade.
