Sandy, nice comp and the rust colors of the rock compliment those of the duck. I like this a lot.

Always a thrill to see in the wild. Nice position and composition. Not as sharp as I'd like to see, though (perhaps the 2x on the 500, or the low shutter speed for 1000mm).

A beautiful bird and I love the setting Sandy. Exposure looks good and I like your comp. Could be sharper as Richard mentions.

Love the composition and colors. I was also lucky enough to get a shot at one this weekend. Also feather detail looks great! :toast:

I am envious. When we took our trip to Alaska this last summer, we saw several Harlequins, but never in a situation to get this good a shot of one. Very nice, just slightly soft as already mentioned.

Some day I will get some images of this species Sandy. I like your comp with the rock and wavy BG. Sharpness nit mentioned.

Very cool! What beautiful birds. Have tried to capture them on the Yellowstone, but never have gotten anything close to this.

Nice comp and the grayish background makes the colorful duck stand out that much more. Nice job on the exposure too. :toast:

Nice shot, I like everything about it! Maybe just a tad soft, but does not distract. What lens were you using? just curious. Thanks for sharing.

This is just a great capture of this interesting duck. What really makes the image for me is the low angle and the clear view of the Harlequin.

Oh, my, this is a fabulous portrait, Sandy! If you had time for more shots, maybe waiting for a little different wave action on the river in the background would've been nice. But, I'd slip this into my portfolio in a hurry if I were lucky enough to have gotten such a great shot.
