Sadly these birds don't really do much other that stand still and wait, however shortly after this was taken he/she struck out and caught a small fish, typical.

MKIII 500f/4 1/640 f/7.1 ISO200 (HH, FF)
Again minor tweaks in curves, levels, colour balance and minor sharpening

Hi Steve, I think you've captured this really well with some super detail. I tad more on the right maybe to see what he's looking to stab? :toast:

Steve, Really nice pose and feather detail.
When these guys are in a pose like this, a strike is coming soon - so I have the remote in hand, and the camera set for continuous - and with quick reaction and luck, I can catch the strike and prey.

More space would be good but the pose and env work together.

I like the pose and habitat detail.
Mike, this is a Black-headed Heron (Ardea melanocephala) probably photographed in Mara/Serengeti.

Yes, I know that feeling Steve.

I am sure the Guiness advert producer was a photographer in a past life. I find them difficult to lock focus on the eye as well.

Nicely composed and an alert specimen.

Cheers
