In With Two Feet

The title is a reference to the processing, rather than the actual photo. This is a different image than one I previously posted, a bit further back, a bit wider view. The main thing is I dove in and took a new approach to processing in Elements from all the help I've received here. Ditched the "Quick" fix approach and sliders, and adjusted levels, curves, color more manually.

Anyway, curious as to how close I've come to getting it "right", so all C&C of course is welcomed!! Larger suggested, thanks. :toast:

Bill, you've done an excellent jonb here. With increased processing abilities, your work can now shine for what it is.

Pretty image, Bill. I don't think I commented on your last post but as far as the processing goes I think this is a vast improvement over your last image of the same falls. As far as the image itself goes it looks like a great location and I think you've done a wonderful job in capturing the falls and surrounding environs. I do think the falls holds a bit more interest for me on the right more than the left side.

Your definitely putting your best foot forward  .Your processing looks more "natural" here than in previous posts. I don't like seeing such a strong element cut-off like the lower right side of the falls.I would try to include all the falls or just the most interesting section(s). :toast:

Way to go, Bill! Looks like you're on the 'road to recovery'.
The greys along the top of the falls look a bit odd, though. Still, this is worlds better than the last time I saw this (or a similar view).

Now this looks completely natural to me, and pretty darn nice! You have nice tones throughout, and the contrast looks pretty good too. One thing I see, are some overly hot spots in the white water. If you chose to, you could pass over those with the clone brush at a very low(15%) or so opacity. That could tone them down nicely.

Well done - i like the scene and the choize of the aspect ration. Water action is great. I miss a little bit of rocks on the right to space the water away from the frame..

thank you folks, especially Luke and John for the PSE tutoring. Luke, appreciate the kind words, and Chris you are also always encouraging--sometimes sarcastic, but me too!!

And in general, yes the comp does leave something to be desired on this as far as the RHS goes. Next time!! Off to brave 15 degree temps and frozen water, can't wait! :toast:

Very nice, Bill. Your new processing has paid off. I love the natural feel of this shot.

I hope we can get together to shoot sometime. I come up to your area a lot.

Bill,

I am liking this new style too Bill. Your web sharpening is way better! If you don't mind me asking, where in PA was this taken? It is a gorgeous stream/creek.....

Michael, it's in the very northeastern section of PA, not far from Elk Mountain if you know the ski area. A good friend., was kind enough to tell me about this stream, and I stil haven't gotten to all the spots along it. It's a beauty for sure, and many more in the area. Thanks!
